What an incredible month it has been! As we wrap up June 2026, we want to take a moment to look back and celebrate the amazing connection, support, and joy shared right here in Radford.
Our doors at the Primary Artist Studio were buzzing on June 5th and June 19th as we hosted two of our most vital community programs side-by-side. Here is a look at what we accomplished together this month.
🍲 People’s Cafe: Free Food Parcel Event
With the cost of living still hitting families hard, our mission to put “Community First” is more important than ever. This month, our People’s Cafe team successfully ran two major Food Parcel Collection days.
- When it happened: June 5th & June 19th, from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM.
- The Impact: We distributed essential food assistance to neighbors across Nottingham, ensuring families had access to fresh, nutritious provisions.
- A Huge Thank You: These events are funded by the UK Government and supported by the East Midlands Combined County Authority alongside Claire Ward, Mayor of the East Midlands. Their backing makes this vital safety net possible.
🎒 A Quick Reminder for Next Month: We love seeing your faces, but please remember to bring your own shopping bags when you come to collect parcels. It helps us keep our operations green and efficient!
🎨 Elders’ Circle: Connection, Games, and Good Vibes
Running right alongside the People’s Cafe, our Elders’ Circle brought warmth, laughter, and brilliant energy to the studio. Designed as a friendly, welcoming space for older adults to combat isolation and build deep friendships, June’s sessions were packed with activity.
Our elders got stuck into a bit of everything:
- Food Tasting & Sharing: Trying out new flavors and sharing classic comfort foods together.
- Indoor Games: Keeping spirits high and competitive juices flowing.
- Creative Outlets: From dancing and listening to music to getting hands dirty with some indoor gardening.
This beautiful program is run in partnership with Warrior Wellbeing, Primary, and the Community Fund—we are so grateful for their ongoing collaboration to support our local elders.
🙌 Our Volunteers Are the Real Heroes
None of this happens without the amazing people who give up their mornings to help us set up. Every single event day, our volunteer crew shows up at 10:00 AM sharp to pack parcels, set up games, prep food, and welcome everyone with an open heart. If you lent a hand this month: Thank you. You are the heartbeat of Open Arms.
Look Ahead to July!
We aren’t slowing down. We will be right back at the Primary Artist Studio (33 Seely Road) for our next sessions on July 3rd and July 17th. Elders’ Circle kicks off at 10:00 AM, followed by Food Parcel Collection at 11:00 AM.
If you want to join us, grab a food parcel, secure a spot in the Elders’ Circle, or sign up to volunteer, drop us an email at info@openarmsorganisation.co.uk or call us at 07411970849.
See you in July!
